I tried to use my "gift card" to pay for a meal last night. Had a rough time with the Ast. Mgr. getting them to accept it, she was "rough around the edges". They said it was "expired". The Florida law says what Sonny's tried to do, refuse the card, is illegal. SHAME ON SONNY'S. They lost me as a customer, because there are many excellent barbecue places in the area to eat at. LOST FOR EVER. Sonny's needs to know the law and not screw their good customers, like me. (2)1(a) A gift certificate purchased or credit memo issued in this state may not have an expiration date,. expiration period, or any type of postsale charge or fee imposed on the gift certificate or credit memo, including, but not limited to, service charges, dormancy fees, account maintenance fees, or cash-out fees.
I wonder how many people have actually been taken advantage of by Sonny's, by not accepting their own Sonny's "gift cards"??
