after reading about others experiences being negative here, I had to put in my two cents. Over the past nine days I have been to the emergency room 7 times (3 at st. Vincent) for my left kidney being in severe pain. Each time I have been here, I have been met with the most professional and personal loving cate I have ever had.
Each time they treated my pain as an emergent situation. I am 21 weeks pregnant, so my case was a little delicate. Yesterday when I came in, I was met immediately with Doctor Young in the ER, he was kind and very prompt with the care he knew I deserved being in there twice that prior week. I had the same tests performed with the same results and finally he came in and asked if it would be okay if he called a urologist to see if I could have a stent put in immediately to relieve my pain. I was hesitant because going under anesthesia while pregnant isn t the best option always. I waited a while for a room (no biggie) I got there at 8:00am and was in surgery by 4:15pm that same day. The urologist (dr.hall) came in and explained the risks and the procedure to me and how he was very careful with these types of situations because he is not only caring for one life, but two. The nurses in pre-op (I think that s what they are called) were the most helpful and reassuring. The anesthesiologist sat down and answered any questions I had (a lot) and reassured me that he wouldn t be doing the surgery if the risk was greater than the reward. He explained risks associated with the anesthesiology and the risk if I didn t get the surgery. I got to my recovery room and had THE SWEETEST NURSES Dan-Dan, who was just on my level and made me feel so at home during my visit. And Julia who you could tell was extremely busy with all her patients but kept up with my requests and made sure she asked about all my needs. So far this experience although painful, has been next level care for me. I won t choose any other hospital from now on, this is my go to. Thank you for making what is usually an upsetting time, a not so bad experience for me and my unborn baby girl.
