The Semperoper in Dresden was built from 1871 to 1878 after the first building was completely destroyed by fire in 1869. This second building suffered severe damage on February 13, 1945 as a result of the air raids in World War II. After the Second World War, the Semperoper was rebuilt between 1977 and 1985. The Semperoper has a very splendid interior. Around 300 events take place in the Semperoper every year. A visit to the Semper Opera House is an absolute must for anyone interested in culture and music when visiting Dresden.
