I recently did a tour the birth center at Multicare Auburn Medical Center, and will say I was not pleased at all. I know the hospital is older, but it doesn't seem like they have done any renovations at all since I was born 31 years ago. I knew that the hospital would not be great, but I didn't think it would be that bad. The parking is not fantastic and the smell when you walk in the door is not appealing at all. The hallways are very dark and gloomy, and again the smell is throughout the halls all the way to the birth center. The rooms were an decent size, but still looked like they were from the 60's. It also didn't seem like it would be very comfortable for the other parent while staying there overnight. The surrounding area is not an area I would want to be in either. This experience is supposed to be wonderful for Mom, Dad, and visiting family. The vibe I got when I walked into that hospital was far from it. For this reason I switched my OB and will be delivering at Valley Medical Center. Hopefully in time they will do some upgrades.

On a positive note, I did like that the birth center is a locked floor and EVERYONE would need to be buzzed in by the staff and checked in at the front desk as they entered and exited the floor. This security feature was nice to see. I will also say the staff seemed very nice and helpful. From the reviews I have read the staff is great in the birth center. But since I would be spending a couple days there, I didn't want to be in that environment with my new family for that long.
