The unit would not connect when I first arrived in Auckland. After contacting support, the agent said he would take care of the problem and the unit should be working in 12 hours. It was working in less than 12 hours. Up to five devices were connected and as long as we had 3G service there was no problem downloading email, uploading photos, etc. At 2G the performance dropped off considerably. Since we were mostly in urban areas performance was adequate and met our expectations. If there is one downside, it's the battery, which barely lasted 2 hours. I was aware of this from reading other reviews and carried a power bank, which I kept connected to the XCom device inside my camera bag. The power bank allowed us to keep the device on all day without recharging. All in all, using XCom was convenient and definitely more economical than paying international rates for 5 phones.
