Many say that tourism is all about the people.

Many say that tourism is all about the people.

This is true in spades for Rixos Pera, who bailed me out of an exteremely perilous situation of my own making. For security reasons, I won't mention all details, but they went above and beyond all expectations we had of them to make our stay at Rixos and trip to Istanbul as pleasant as possible.

Front manager Nihat, who assisted me with my issue, and the rest of the team, all seem to love their jobs, and it shows.

They also excelled beyond just customer service. Room decor, amenities, room service and general quality of stay were par excellence.

The sweet-smelling lobby and connected tea/sitting room of Rixos is much more splendid and opulent than I could've imagined. Chandeliers hang over clean marble floors and tables with fresh flowers. Bellboys and employees scuttle about, always in motion to attend to customers' needs. There's definitely that classic busy-hotel vibe here, and somehow it's so quaintly Constantinople.

The morning breakfast is a must. For a few extra bucks per day, it's a most worthwhile addition. When you are traveling with a family, it makes most sense to start your day with a good meal before setting about your day. Plus, a rooftop dining room overlooking the city never hurts.

If I had to make one suggestion, it would be to get a pool at some point (although they do have a Turkish spa, so that's great.)

Perfect hotel!
