Paul Schmidt Review of Wild Waves Theme Park

Sad, just sad. An hour into the park opening, we had gone on 2 slides and then headed over to The Riptide, one of the most popular. Upon getting in line, we were told the slide was closing because they were understaffed. The rest of the day was the same, rides were either permanently closed, or on a rotation basis of being closed, so if you didn't time it just right you were out of luck. This of course caused lines at the other rides to be longer.
We were a party of three, so most slides we needed a double tube and one single tube. The single tubes were so rare that the person going single often had to wait 10-15 minutes for a single tube to be available, YES 10-15 MINUTES. Hint: Get more single tubes, or maybe have all the slides open?
Out of the staff that were working, about 1/2 were less than apathetic about their job if that's possible. We experienced/witnessed several staff members who were asked questions or fielded complaints and responded with sheer silence and just a stare. People running the slides and waving people to go, like a get out of my hair gesture, not saying one word to anyone. Staff getting upset at each other and not on the same page at all.
In the afternoon we went to the food stand near the Ring of Fire to get ice cream. There are 2 ice cream bars listed on the menu, one for $3.99 the other for $4.99. I asked what the difference was and literally got a shrug and look of complete confusion. I asked again and was told there is no difference. Seriously. I asked a 3rd time and was told we have chocolate and strawberry left, ok, how much are those ones? $5.49. Alright, we'll just have soft serve, oh that's not working. OK we'll have an Icee, oh that's not working. You get the idea...
C'mon Wild Waves, this was the most disappointing outing with my daughter I've ever had. Hire more people (you may have to up your wage a bit, but believe me you can afford it), and train your staff. They don't have to be rock stars, but this was absolutely pathetic.
