So excited to enjoy this 4 star hotel, though I have to agree with other reviews about rude valet attendants, (no, we aren't holding this for you) overselling parking spaces, (prepaid guests who reserved a spot at the hotel still had to park anywhere else they could find downtown, not easy to walk and with luggage) and to boot, we have no running water in the shower, only the sink. The toiletries were the same brand as in my last 3 star hotel, Holiday Inn Express here in Denver. It's almost 1am, we are back from a baseball game and dinner, and wanted to shower before bed. Instead, we are waiting for someone to come take a look at plumbing. Seriously, not a 4 star hotel, and disappointing for a city date night. Maintenance arrives, super nice man, says he has been here 13 years and never seen anything like this. I asked the front desk clerk for a different room instead of sitting here watching attempted repairs and he said they are sold out. I then asked can we just be refunded and he laughed and asked if I wanted to talk to a manager, so I laughed and said yes. Impressive. The front desk manager offered in house food credits and incidentals, like free breakfast and bottled room water? Really, that's all that can be done? With no shower and we are up until who knows what time, that is not even close to making up for this. Adding more hassle is the fact he has to contact our booking company to see how to credit us because he can't do it in house. Budget hotels have been better than this. I'm totally suprised and sad at the lack of ability here. We are opting to just drive 2 hours home and odds are likely we will be out what we prepaid. Update: We waited 20 more minutes for now two nice men to work on the shower and decided to just drive home. Upon checking out at the front desk we are told by a different guest service person that there IS a room we can move to because someone hadn't shown up for their reservation. Wow. I guess if they do show up, they get to bunk with the repair men in our old room and I hope the shower is repaired. I just appreciated him helping us, unlike the first person to whom I spoke. The manager I spoke to on the phone was also there, though he was the security manager and not the front desk manager. He explained that's why he couldn't refund or credit us past some incidentals. He's the only manager on duty so he covers front desk but isnt able to do much. Very nice person as well, but there should be a qualified person on site for a large sold-out "4-star" hotel to manage guest issues. He would have the front desk manager call us tomorrow for resolution. What a hassle for just wanting a shower and some sleep.
Both people were very nice in person, but it is clear as a guest, you aren't covered with proper capable staff. They are running at bare minimum during a sold-out holiday weekend and are winging it at your incovenience. At any rate, by 2am we had a different room, and enjoyed hearing a couple fight across the hall until 2:30am when the argument moved to the hallway and the man slammed out of there through the stairwell door. Quality all around. Upon waking this morning, our coffee pot doesn't work in the outlet in the bathroom. That one is dead, so forget using the hairdryer in there, but at least we can unplug the alarm clock and use that outlet. I can hardly wait to check out and see what mess we get to deal with. Just look around before booking here, do not trust that your room nor your parking spot will be held. The facade is definitely starting to crack and it isn't worth the money or your time. Even the 4 star reviews mention room problems....
