I gave one star because that was the lowest option...

I gave one star because that was the lowest option but trust me, if I could have given less stars I would have. I chose to live at The Woods because it was brand new, the rooms were spacious, and the look of the apartment complex was absolutely stunning! BUT, looks can be deceiving. My first issue was with maintenance. I had to put in five maintenance requests BEFORE anyone even came to look at the problem and guess what? It was still never fixed. Then about two months ago I found out my father was terribly ill and I needed to move back home to take care of him. As soon as I heard the news I went and spoke with Sara, the manager of the leasing department. Sara told me they could find someone to sublease for me and pay 85% of the next months rent OR I could avoid that charge and find someone to sublease for me. So I told her I would try to find someone but if she were able to find someone first to please let me know because I needed to leave the state to be wit my father as soon as possible. Fast forward three weeks later I find someone to take over my lease and I send Sara all of the information. She proceeds to tell me that the tenant I have found was considered "Woods traffic" because she had spoken to her one time about rent prices for next year. At this point I'm a little annoyed because I was told that If I found a subleaser I wouldn't have to pay the fee. If Sara had contacted me and told me about this potential tenant then okay I understand that I would have to pay the fee. But she didn't. I had to spend time looking for someone when I should have been home taking care of my father and yet I'm still being penalized? It took me a while to calm down but at the end of the day, I needed to leave, so I agreed to pay the relet fee. I'm then told I owe $531.25 and it didn't hit me at first but while I'm driving across country to my home in Florida, something doesn't quite add up. My rent is $555.00 and that's what it says on my lease agreement. So how is 85% of $555.00, $531.25? At this point I'm furious because now not only has The Woods of San Marcos messed with my money once but now TWICE?! Driving across country and medical bills aren't cheap and messing with someone's money like that knowing their situation IS NOT okay.

I'm not one to speak up and write bad reviews but this has been the worst experience of my entire life and I thought something needed to be said. This establishment is money hungry and doesn't actually care about their tenants. So if you are stuck between living here and somewhere else, choose the other option.
