Jordan Radkov Review of InterContinental Malta
This is the central party location in Malta for lo...
This is the central party location in Malta for lower class / people on welfare from the UK. Every night (and especially on Sunday after a game ) the streets are full of drunken British , singing and chanting football songs. We couldn't sleep for 3 nights , even though we were on the 11th floor !!! The noise somehow ricochetes off the street and you hear everything. Oddly enough you wont see these people anywhere else but here and in the Blue lagoon. The Intercontinental staff cant do anything about the noise complaints and neither can the police. I suppose nobody will refuse tourists' money.
One day some guy was "burning rubber " on the small street in front of the hotel , slid about with his BMW and almost crashed. Nobody noted his plate number or did anything.
There are 3 strip clubs in that area and plenty of bars if that's what you're looking for. All of them look very low class /shady, except for Hugo's.
The hotel has access to a "beach" , which is next to a crossroad/roundabout, so dont expect to relax there.
If you are planning a relaxing / romantic/ family /couple type of holiday do not book Intercontinental . It would be the biggest mistake you could make. Try Gozo and the northern part of Malta for such vacations. Much cheaper and for the money , you're going to save ( Intercontinental is 5 stars , so a bit more expensive than other hotels ) take a rental car for 20 25 euro/day.
Public transport in Malta during the season is a joke and you will need 40 minutes from St Julian to the ferry station for Valetta.
The area around the hotel is well connected in terms of bus lines, but dont expect comfort.
On the plus side their gym is great and they offer good breakfast.
All in all a good hotel located in a terrible location, which forced us to check out prematurely and seek refuge on the northern part of the isle.
