Legoland is a wonderful place but you should not visit during the busy season in the middle of the summer. Choose an odd date outside of Danish and German school holidays and you will have a wonderful time.
The problem with the holiday season is the queues. And the fact that you can pay (like in the Disney parks) to skip the queues. This means you will not be able to try the rides and the kids will be bored - unless you pay an additional fee to skip the queues - but that just increases the problem for everybody else. This is of course a result of the park being popular and successful which in itself is good... but it isn't good for the visitors.
The rides are balanced very nicely with something for all ages. The babies have several rides to choose from (merry-go-round, miniature trains, airplanes) and the bigger kids have wild roller coaster rides, the 4D Ninjago ride (very impressive) and much more.
The "Dragon" and "Ninjago" rides have huge queues on busy days and the rides are very short once you get on-board. Hence, try to visit these first, before the queues get too long.
Food at the park isn't fanatstic but the "All-Stars" burger place has improved a lot in the last year. I recommend eating burgers or nuggets there, or go with a hot dog.
The most interesting time of year in the park is Halloween. It is a bit risky since the weather in Denmark is always unpredictable and much more so in the Autumn. But the spooky atmosphere (without scaring children) and everything covered in spider webs and with pumpkins all over the place... you almost get two parks for the price of one :)
Final tip: LegoLand offers free children's tickets with various products. Buying a specific package of bread or pumping gas at a specific gas station chain will get you a coupon. Research where these coupons are. You can only use the coupons at the ticket booths next to the entrance. Once again, queues are a problem so get to LegoLand 15-30 minutes before the park opens (on busy days at least). If you do not go with coupons, buy tickets online several days in advance to get discounts.
