We used 120,000 Starwood points to stay here for two days. I needed to go to the emergency room the night before and called Starwood as well as St. Regis resorts to see if I could get a refund on points since I was in the hospital. That was the first turn downhill. St Regis reps told me that it did not matter that I was in the hospital and then I would need to use the points anyways but would not have any sort of refund. Let me just explain that 120,000 points means about $100,000 with of credit card expenses accumulated over a period of time. We missed the first night out of the stay because I was in the hospital. We did try to make the best of the situation by coming to stay the second evening.
We live very close this was more of a staycation. My husband and I have stayed at this particular hotel four times in the past so we are no strangers to what to expect at this resort.
I checked in without my husband because he was going to be coming later and I had an early spa treatment. Let me be clear, I tried to check in... Because my husband was not with me and the receptionist was too lazy to actually look into the reservation fully to see all the details I was humiliated, and forced to wait and walk around the hotel with my suitcases until my husband arrived three hours later.
I found other things very lacking over the course of our one night stay such as bugs inside my fruit. The water bottles in our room were not sealed and seemed like they had been used.
In room dining was an epic fail. After this stay, i believe this hotel has lost two very good patrons for life. In future, on your vacation in Miami if you are looking for a luxury experience don t let the name of this hotel deceive you. My husband and I have stayed in many St Regis resorts the world over And they are all exceptional. This one not so much.
