After paying for an event, the event was cancelled...

After paying for an event, the event was cancelled. We were disheartened when surcharges were placed on our card. Not knowing our options and fearing litigious retaliation for reporting the vendor, we started to lose hope of any reasonable resolution. We were in a pretty bad place with the thought that we would be out of hundreds of dollars without ever having attended the event.
