Phil Gravel Review of Wyndham Va Beach Oceanfront

Stayed at the Wyndham Virginia Beach Oceanfront for a meeting I was attending. The hotel was OK, but not particularly noteworthy. Probably the best thing the hotel has going for it is its reasonable rates. But that comes at a cost. The hotel is about 2 miles north of the boardwalk and main beach activity. Other than the Surf Club Ocean Grille restaurant in the hotel, nothing else is within walking distance.
Although this is an older hotel, it has recently been updated. The carpet in the rooms and halls looks relatively new. The room furnishings are of a contemporary design, look fairly new and are in good condition. The bed was very comfortable and I slept well. Particularly nice was the fact that the hot water was really hot.
There were a number of things that I thought the hotel could do much better. Although my room was clean, the hallways weren t. I stayed four nights and the hallways were not vacuumed once. When I came back one night, someone had been in the utility room next to my room and there was debris on the carpet outside of my room which was never vacuumed up.
Other things show that the hotel staff aren t paying attention to the condition of their property. The utility sink in the room is where people would dump coffee. The drain has significant buildup of coffee residue. It would only take a Scotch-Brite or a rag and some S.O.S. cleaner to make it sparkling clean. The caulking around the bath tub could use cleaning or replacing.
Finally, in the hallway the hems on some of the curtains are falling out. It looks sloppy and gives the impression that the hotel cares little on how the property looks to its guests.
Paying a little more attention to the details at this hotel would make this property look better and show that the owners and management care about its appearance.
