My husband and I have been stranded in a parking lot for days.
When 3 officers came by to investigate an incident, two walked over to ask what we had witnessed. One of the officers asked how it happened that we became stranded. We told him the truth of how not through our own fault, we had lost our rental, and how recently, my husband's pension cheque had been mangled by Walmart's check reader, and how they refused to make their mistake right.
We needed the money to repair our car. We would now have to wait for his unemployment cheque which was days away.My husband is disabled with severe scoliosis, and I have multiple sclerosis and lupus, with heart and kidney failure.
This officer left, and returned to give us a gift card for groceries.
We will never forget the compassion and kindness this man showed us. He didn't judge, but instead followed the teaching of Christ, whether he was a Christian or not.
God bless him, and our men and women in blue who risk their lives daily to keep us safe.
