Jennifer Burkhard Review of The Scottsdale Plaza Resort

We just checked out this morning
7-6-15. We stayed over 4th of July weekend. We live in Arizona and we wanted a weekend getaway in a resort. We have four children and I'm pregnant so it's sometimes hard to find a resort with rooms big enough to accommodate a big family. We stay in their bi level 2 queen bed room. It was off the pool which we loved and it was just the right size. We figured we'd give the kids the upstairs and we would sleep on the sofa sleeper. The sofa sleeper was so old and uncomfortable, being pregnant there was so way I'd be able to sleep. You could feel every spring. So we ended up having two kids sleep there.
The staff was great. Very hospitable. The front desk staff was helpful and kind. There was a kind gentleman, Bob who greeted me, showed me how to get to our room, even opened the car door.
We did their summer promotion which was great I thought I would get a prenatal massage. We saw they had some restaurants so we were excited to try their fine dinning restaurants. Unfortunately both the spa and Remington were closed.
So our first day their we decided to have lunch at JD's. It was completely empty. The food wasn't as great as we expected it to be. The pizza we ordered the kids looked to have been frozen. I'd give JD's 1 star.
We did order room service for breakfast on Sunday morning. It was better than expected. I'd give it 2 stars.
There is so much potential at The Scottsdale Plaza Resort. The "bones" are there. The staff is great.
Upon first arriving we were wondering why it was so empty.
By the end of our vacation we understood why it was empty.
Also, it was a little confusing as to why we would get charged a resort fee when none of the resort amenities were useable.
I hope some things get fixed up. And things get spruced up. Bc I'd like to stay here again. But not at the price they charge.
The best thing they have is great staff! It made my day.
