Semper Opera House is located on Theater Square (Theaterplatz). Here you can simultaneously admire the buildings of various architectural styles: Baroque, Renaissance, Classicism ... In addition, a monument to composer Karl Maria von-Weber-Denkmal (1786-1826), who from 1817 to 1826 was the art director of the German Opera in Dresden, was erected on Theater Square, between the opera and the Dresden Gallery . The sculptor Ernst Rietschel worked on the monument.


The facade of the opera house is crowned by the ascended quadrice of Johannes Schilling's work. The sculptural composition depicts a chariot with four panthers harnessed to it, which is ruled by the Greek god Dionysus and his wife Ariadne.

He also made two sitting figures at the entrance to the opera, depicting Goethe and Schiller (work by Ernst Ritchell).
