I went to the ER on a Monday night with a raging migraine, ice-pack held to my head. Migraines aren't new to me, I know how to handle them, but this one was extraordinary. They shuffled me around, doing nothing more than taking my name and insurance info, for more than an hour. There were maybe two other people there, it was not busy at all.
When my ice-pack was completely melted with no relief in sight, and it was apparent they had no intention of dealing with me, I left without being seen by anyone at all.
I will fight them vigorously if they try to charge me for this huge waste of time and lack of even the most rudimentary care.
This is only the second time in my life I have had to show at an ER for a killer migraine; the first time, years ago, I went to St. Francis Hospital in Federal Way. They took me seriously and gave me an injection that shut it right down.
I've lived in this region since 1980, and have consistently through the years heard how substandard Auburn Regional Medical Center was. I never had to experience it before, but I just moved nearby and it was the closest at the moment. I absolutely will not be back.
