Buying a used car today, put aside a couple hours...

Buying a used car today, put aside a couple hours. Had cash down payment in hand, financing already approved and in place at credit union. It took hours anyway, still here. Takes them forrreeever and they HAVE to run a credit report in order to buy a USED CAR?!?!
Holy Crap!? Really??!
Never again.... They have to get a credit history AND a background check in order to take cash for a car?!?!
