Completely appalling experience yesterday at the e...

Completely appalling experience yesterday at the evening cardiology clinic. After long wait to see consultant I was told the afternoon clinic has run over this was at 6.45pm.

Whist I was waiting one lady (*according to staff conversation I overheard) had already got dressed and gone home as she was upset , I watched another man get his coat on and state categorically he could not wait any longer as was still waiting for consultant to come back to him but he had to go for *he stated personal reason* , then another man stated to nurse in charge that his appointment was supposed to be at 5pm yet he was still waiting.

When I was eventually called in to see consultant he did not even apologise for the waiting time, instead he immediately went on the attack repeatedly stating why are you here? he was arrogant, rude and obstructive, he kept contradicting everything I said to him as if he was trying catch me out , he additionally stated my G.P had not made a proper referral which I do not believe as all prior referrals my G.P has made to other hospitals have been very comprehensive.

He implied I was lying about my symptoms and also implied I was lying about a conversation I had with my prior Cardiology consultant in Sussex (*whom is a very highly respected and professional consultant) about repeating an angiogram and my ongoing symptoms.

The consultant was so offensive I told him I felt uncomfortable about his tone and his reply was
This is not going to work out! I replied clearly not , gathered my coat and bag and got up to leave.

The consultant then got up to follow me out and loudly remarked I will write to your G.P and tell her to find you someone else she is wasting my time!.

I asked to speak to a manger and the reception staff told me to go and sit in the side treatment room as I was visibly upset, however as it was then past 7pm all the mangers had left the building, the nurse in charge gave me tissues as I was by then shaking and crying with the shock of the incident however I then had to leave as she stated I could not stay in the treatment room as she had to go back to reception.

I left the hospital extremely distressed and have since taken advice from The British Heart Foundation helpline and I have spoken to the Quality Care Commission . I will be making a formal complaint however seeing some of the other reviews on here I have little faith that even the progression a formal complaint will resolve the issue.
