The bus station itself is fine and yes, you have to buy a card, and yes the window doesn't open until 7a.m., which almost made me late to catch a tour I was going on inJerusalem, but all that was understandable and worked out. I did, however, buy a back-up battery for my iphone for about $40 and it's not working. The vendor was extremely friendly, helpful, and spoke English, but the battery must have been very old because it won't charge. So beware buying electronics in the bus station.
