Sal Jaber Review of St. Alexius Medical Center
This hospital is prejudice, unwelcoming and I WILL...
This hospital is prejudice, unwelcoming and I WILL NEVER COME HERE AGAIN!
I wish I could give 0 stars, but it wouldn t allow me to do so.
Whee to start, I was called 4-5 times by 4 or 5 different people giving me different pre-op instructions and different times for the surgery.
My registration was a disaster and the check in staff are bigots. I was walked back to the nursing station for vitals. I had the most amazing nurse and tech, they were both patient, sweet, kind and genuinely concerned. I wasn t given any sort of run around from either of them.
The nurse (again was amazing) reviewed my medications, history, etc. He went into great detail as to what I should expect from start to finish. This information was great but would have been even better had anyone of the pre-op receptionists informed me of this prior. I was originally told I should expect to be here 2-3 hours after surgery, well no, that was no longer the case, now I needed to add additional, lengthy tests. I even added an extra hour for late start or technical difficulties. Well, now I have to completely change my pick up time by 3-4 hours. My sister was not available to pick me up at that time and also rearranged her children s schedules and her own work schedule to be available at the time I was originally given.
Needless to say at this point I m furious but trying very hard not to take it out on the nurse or staff. So we go into detail about the times and told him that s not going to work for my ride and that I d need to come up with a plan b, and if not, I would have to take an Uber home. He said that wasn t allowed since someone needed to come in and sign for my discharge papers. And, if I didn t have a family member come and pick me up, they wouldn t proceed with the surgery because it s a liability on their end.
So let s recap, I received 5 different sets of pre op information, I received specific times for the surgery that were changed three times, I never received a call back on pre op clarification, I had to change my work schedule (again) I had to come 5 hours earlier than scheduled (was notified the day before) the front desk staff was disgusting, I received BRAND NEW information about post op testing, I was told we probably cannot do the surgery if I didn t have a family member come get me.
How is any of the information I listed above acceptable in a medical work environment?? You are not doing any of this work for free, you are being paid thousands and thousands of dollars from my insurance, you are paid for every single second of your time, your time is not more valuable than mine, your schedules do not supersede anyone else s and your disregard to patients and their time is unacceptable.
It took me an hour and a half to adjust everyone else s schedule to make sure someone was available to pick me up. Luckily my sister was still able to pick me up, albeit she had to wait two hours.. since everything was pushed back.
I will never, EVER, IN MY LIFE, ever, set foot into this hospital or any of its affiliations ever again. I would rather be treated at cook country or die, rather than ever come here again and pay for this disservice.
This type of treatment, lack of regard to my time and lack of communication is a lawsuit and a disaster waiting to happen.
I did check the online reviews prior to coming here and I wish I would have listened to my instinct and stayed as far away as possible.
If you love yourself or your family members, please seek medical attention elsewhere.
And please, I would appreciate it if your generic reputation management team didn t try to contact me at all to try and get more information to rectify the situation save that bs for someone who isn t aware of the garbage-like disservices your facility has to offer.
There was a character limit to this post, so you are lucky I wasn t able to post the original 4 page review I wanted to leave.
Please shut down ASAP!
Disgusted and alarmed.
