The rooms and service were what you'd expect from a downtown hotel with a franchise's reputation at stake- which is to say, quite good! The social areas are large and sweeping, in-house amenities are of good quality and conveniently accessible.
My only real gripes come in terms of how the hotel (which boasts it's convention center affiliation right in the name) seems to tragically misunderstand how convention culture works, vis a vis its social aspects. Access to the elevators is card key restricted after 10pm, meaning that guests wishing to visit hotel rooms their friends are staying at (rather common in con culture) have to be escorted upstairs. Hotel security is also over fond of throwing their weight around, apparently having your door cracked is some kind of major issue, regardless of whether or not you were making noise at all. I got the distinct feeling that the hotel begrudges its own advertised affiliation with the convention center, and generally felt unwelcome. I get that me and my nerd friends probably dont meet the standard of posh, affluent, in-bed-by-9 businessmen that you'd clearly prefer to have as guests, but if you can't be even a -little- accommodating to the kinds of things that come part and parcel with conventions (hotel room parties, people visiting rooms, costumed attendees), maybe don't be so blatant in your obvious bid for their lodging budget.
