We live nearby, received coupons for a free entre on our birthdays for years, and for some reason had never tried it. It turns out that was a big mistake. This was one of the best meals I ve ever had.

The cooking style here is pretty French, and the menu was mostly fish and seafood. I ordered broiled Cod with vermouth sauce. It was perfectly cooked. So were the red skinned potatoes and green beans that came with it. In fact, the green beans were amazing. These days at restaurants they are almost raw, but here they were the perfect combination of crisp and tender. There was also a cucumber salad on the plate.

Honestly, the food at most restaurants is so mediocre, that having a perfectly cooked meal is astounding and delightful. We came when they had just opened, and the daily menus were still being printed, so the service was slow. But think about that; they print the menu every day because they are cooking the freshest food they can get that day. The server was wonderful and brought a basket of fantastic bread while we waited. We were seated in a booth that had a plaque with Ernie Harwell s name on it, so I m guessing he was a regular there. We will be back.
