Hagia Sophia is an old church, then mosque with an impressively rich history. It is now made into a museum and visitors are free to wander around and sightsee to their hearts content. I would reccomend reading up on the history of this place before visiting to get the most out of your visit. Not everything is well explained inside. It is nearly 1500 years old.
