My husband and I have traveled throughout Europe and South America and had no idea that such a beautiful castle was right next door. We visited today with no expectations but were pleasantly surprised to learn about an incredible entrepreneur who had the first electric car and envisioned harnessing hydro electric power by
using the power of the water over
Niagara Falls. His wife was the first Commissioner for Guides in Canada and during her time, increased the number of Guides from 250 to over17, 000. What a power couple!!!!
The audio tours were informative and very user friendly. You could listen to as much or as little as you liked.
The Castle itself was a testament to the imagination of Sir Henry Pellatt. The furnishings were beautiful. The rooms majestic! The wine cellar to die for! A surprise around every corner. There is even an 800 foot tunnel under the road leading to his original house which is called the Hunting Lodge and includes stables and a garage. Even the servants were well looked after.
We plan to return for a visit in the summer to enjoy the outside and the beautiful gardens.
