Great complex love how the Qualifying matches are free so you don t have to pay so much for tickets to the US Open itself. Good way to bring more people in and draw a fanbase for the sport since tennis seems to take a backseat to baseball, football, basketball and hockey in America. Only annoying thing is if you a backpack you have to check it and put in a locker for 5 dollars and you can t bring in a water bottle that s metal. The food at the concessions is ridiculously expensive as is the case at all sporting events and venues these days. I loved the Arthur Ashe commemorative gardens area but I just found an article online back in 2000 in the Times when it opened that says that the statue did not look like him at all, did not have a clear connection to tennis and the statue was naked. That s really sad. I think they should remove the statue and out an actual statue of him and one that has a real connection to tennis. The statue more resembles some Greek discus thrower or a Greek god. Overall I think the facility is great. Just wish security wasn t to restrictive with what you can and can t bring in and that the food and the merchandise and apparel didn t cost so much. Plus you hear planes taking off from LaGuardia Airport and that is really noisy
