Jane Doe Review of Mt Erie Christian Academy

The worst employment experience in my life x 50. Mary Pena was more than generous in her description. What Ms. Pena says is very true and I can attest to these allegations. I also experienced first hand the ludiocrity. This job was extremely stressful. I witnessed several teachers come and go. The turnover in the Academy Preschool is frequent and unheard of in other facilities. I would say this rest solely on the poor management provided by the director and the mal-treatment she bestows on her employees. I would be uncomfortable having my children in a school with such a high turnover and so many new faces. The employees working in the academy preschool were all terribly stressed and frustrated, they are all underpaid and worked to the bone. The breaking point and last straw for me was when I found out that the teachers were being paid the same rate the as the aides. It was very insulting considering the vast difference in the level of responsibility and work load. It was an absolute joke. The teachers were responsible for twice the work and constantly under extreme pressure to create lessons that were absolutely not age appropriate. The pressure put on teachers with scant resources is reprehensible. Often times working in the Academy Preschool I felt bullied, disrespected, unappreciated, harassed, and manipulated by the director of the facility. The Director of the Academy Preschool created situations where I felt taken advantage of. In my opinion the time I spent there was wasted . It would have been much better to work at Mc Donald's, Chili's, or Target, anywhere else because they paid the same minimum wage and you don't have to deal with all of the months of foolishness unprofessionalism, and abuse. Alas, I am passionate about children and education so I would never want to work in any of those types of places because I would not be doing what I love. But working in the Mt. Erie Academy Preschool is not worth the level of stress and anxiety, it is absolutely not healthy long term. Employees should never ever have to endure such a hostile work environment the director facilitates in the Academy Preschool. I have never worked in a place so unprofessional and will never again! Quitting this job and moving on to a job where every employee is treated with dignity and respect was a very rewarding and satisfying decision.
