This 1927 building, proclaimed "the most beautiful high school in America," was the center of the national crisis when nine African-American children desegregated Little Rock's public schools in 1957. Little Rock Central High School was listed on the National Register on August 19, 1977, and designated a National Historic Landmark on May 20, 1982.
