Recently moved to Clontarf, have shopped here 4-5 times. Overall I like this store, but the other day I was overcharged because one of the items I bought should have been on offer but it came up as a full price, went to the express checkout and got the money back in cash; only to find out this coin wasn't Euro when I tried to use it in a different shop yesterday. So my husband and I was at Nolan's today and he talked to a young staff member at the express checkout. She understood the situation and asked another staff member to confirm; but then this staff member completely misunderstood and thought I was asking if I could pay with the foreign coin; I just couldn't comprehend how she misunderstood it so badly; just because I'm an obvious non Irish person (I'm from Japan), doesn't mean I'm that clueless. Why would anyone think foreign currencies (cash) are accepted in a supermarket?! I'm pretty sure the outcome would've been different if my husband (from the UK) was there by himself.
