Having read several poor reviews, it would seem there may be some upset people. I have been a tenant of Keystone going on four years, and I have yet to experience any of the issues mentioned in prior negative posts.
When we first looked at our apartment, I was taken back a bit at the funky layout. Funky? Yes. The apartment is part of what used to be a single family home that had been broken into apartments at some point, in doing that the layout is quite unconventional but it works. The apartment had fresh carpet, fresh paint, and was very very clean. I think the only cleaning we had to do prior to move in was vacuum the brand new carpets again.
There have been a few things that required I contact Keystone to remedy. I have spoken with Darla, Ashley, Pam, Robyn. All of them spoke to me with the same respect I gave them, and my issues were always addressed in less than or right around 24 hours. We had no heat because our pilot light was out, they sent Chris within an hour and he not only had our furnace running properly, he replaced some parts to ensure it wouldn't be an ongoing issue.
The security deposit was quite low with the lease agreement. Each year at lease renewal time, the rent goes up a little bit, but that's not at all uncommon for apartments in this area. The rent starts quite low for what you get, so it's not an unreasonable increase.
All in all, it just seems like Keystone has gotten a poor reputation that may not be warranted. I cannot speak for the experiences of others, only myself. And my experiences have been very good, especially considering the size of the company. In reading some of the bad reviews, I'm taken back a bit by how unpleasant people say the office staff can be. I have never had any of the Keystone team treat me with disrespect or malicious attitude, and that's including the half dozen or so fix it workers I've met. In closing, judge for yourself. Meet with the staff, interact with them and form your own conclusions. Nobody takes the time to address how well things go, but they'll always make time to bash someone or something they feel is an easy target to blame for their issues...maybe that's something to think about before you write off Keystone because of the words you read online in a review.
