Very pretty, Victorian quaint atmosphere...restaurant was underwhelming. We ate on a Sunday night at 5:30 with our friends who heard it was good food. Our waitress was a bit pretentious & rude (you're in Mayville lady) & somewhat condescending when asked about the thick cod en papillote. I asked her how it was made (I have many food allergies, dairy being one & wanted to avoid butter), she seemed to sigh & replied "in paper"...Really? She quickly said, 'If you order that we only have 2 left'. What? My friend asked about the scallops & she was told 'We have 4 of those left'. My friend's husband asked about the pork shoulder & was told 'We only have 2 of those'. What is going on here??? I've NEVER heard a wait staff tell us their quantity BEFORE ordering. Tacky tacky. It put some doubt into our minds about what our meals would be like. She was resistant to 'educate' us on how our meals were prepared (i.e. spices, flavors, 'sell' us on the specialties if you are portaying your restaurant as high end as you think you are (for example, Ruth Chris Steakhouse). When she left after we ordered, our friends also commented on how she was a bit rude (glad it wasn't just me). My cod was good but the smallest most pitiful sized 2 pieces (about 3 in. X 1 1/2 in. tube like pieces) with 2-3 fingerling potatoes, and fennel (looked like onions so imagine the drabness & lack of color to my meal). NO colorful vegetables whatsoever. For $21!!!!! I was skepticial to even ask for an additional serving of vegetables thinking I'd get a scolding. I had to eat my husband's brussel sprouts to fill myself (which I was STILL hungry!). I'm a size 4/6 125# woman & when I leave a restaurant still hungry...that's pathetic. The men's dinners were apparently good but my friends scallops were not seared just lightly browned & she said she could do better. Needless to say, all 4 of us were extremely unimpressed & will not return.

Monday- April (the manager) called me today with the sincerest, most professional apology (ever) to my review. Shout out to you April. I am hopeful she will make any possible return worth our while.
