Victoria Chii Review of Austin Java
I have never had a negative experience with Austin...
I have never had a negative experience with Austin Java until this at the Manchaca location. The waitress, Bella, was extremely rude and talked down to me when I placed a to go order. On the phone, she asked for my phone number, and she got one of the digits wrong, so I corrected her saying that it was actually a nine not a one. She sarcastically said okay whatever on the phone. That was kind of odd to me, but I brushed it off. I said okay thank you so much after I place my order, and she said okay yeah bye. I was right next to the restaurant, so I decided to go in and pay ahead of time so I could run, take care of a few things, and come back. Shet me there was a surcharge for to go orders, and I expressed I hadn't heard of that before, and she said well this is how we do things here and if you don't like it I can get my manager, so I said "okay, i guess I'll speak with her. Thank you so much". I spoke with the manager, saying that I have never had a problem with any of the customer service here before And this was the first time I had felt very unwelcome. The manager proceeded to tell me that the waitress is just really young and probably stressed out because they have a lot of orders this morning. After the manager had left, I proceeded to ask for my receipt. The waitress, Bella, said that the receipt was being printed and she would get it in just a second. I waited three more minutes for her to help other customers behind me to go and get my receipt. She went into the kitchen and back out, and I asked her if there was still no receipt. She said the receipt is in the bag that my food will be coming out with And I couldn't have it yet. I told her I needed my receipt now so I could take a picture of it. She told me she needed it back after I took a picture of it. whenever I expressed I never had to do to go orders this way before, she said, "well, this is the way it is". I walked out the door and back in, and she asked me "is there something else you need?" And I said yes, just your name. I left to go sit in my car to wait because I didn't want to be around her.
After 15 minutes, I went into grab my food. I went straight to the bar because I didn't want to talk to the waitress, Bella. She saw that I avoided her, so she slammed her coffee down on the front desk, walked over to the bar and aggressively grabbed my bag of food and held it up to my face. She smirked at me and said, here's your food. At this point, I realize that she is targeting me specifically. I over emphasized my thank you so much, And I asked the bar for the manager a second time.
At this time, I'm upset. I told the manager how she was treating me and the behavior she was acting upon. The manager proceeded to write it off, saying well, we attract these types of workers for $8 an hour. $8 an hour isn't even livable wage, so you can imagine she's young and doesn't have very much work experience yet.
I told her that shouldn't matter because work is about helping others and being of service and getting paid for our service to others.
she said yes, I agree, and her behavior with the coffee is not very professional. I will talk to her about it.
I said, I don't know if she has something going on in her life that would make her act this way, but you cannot bring personal business into the workplace. You have to leave it at the door!
The manager said, I agree, but, again, she is very young.
all in all, I don't feel that this situation was cared for in an adequate and professional manner. I feel her behavior is unacceptable, especially when I was nothing but nice to her and trying to be understanding with whatever her situation was. I do not think that the manager writing off her situation as her not being paid enough looks very good on the company. I told the manager that I will no longer be taking orders from her establishment, and she just agreed with me. Saying that she was going to talk to the waitress. They did not try to compensate for the situation or take responsibility for it.
This was the worst experience of customer service I have ever had.
