I originally made an appointment for an oil change...

I originally made an appointment for an oil change, even though the dealership charges $257, and the same service in my area is $96 for a full synthetic service. The reason I chose the dealership was that I had purchased the vehicle there in Bellevue in 2008 and also needed to have a "loud squawking sound" addressed by MB technicians.

Upon arrival, I was met with an entire "list" of repairs and needs all handwritten out. Basically the technician suggested that all those items be addressed (like a new battery, new wipers, new tires, etc). I refused all of those. He continued to tell me that he knew "exactly what was causing the sounds on a cold start". He suggested that I not have the diagnosis done for $165, since he knew the repair that was needed (basically a pulley belt and some tension adjustment). I gave him the approval to proceed.

Since we live over three hours from the Bellevue dealership, we received a loaner car; later in the day the technician called me and said there was something else that needed to be done on the car and it would be $200 more. I verbally approved.

The following day, I was contacted again, and the technician told me the sound was still there; and that I would need another pulley replaced and it would be another $1,075. After clearly expressive my dismay, and anger at this obvious gouging of a customer, I felt I had no choice but to approve.

When we arrived back to the dealership the following day to pick up our car, I asked the technician for all the parts to my car that had been replaced. He went into an angry panic mode; basically telling me they did not have the parts. I further quoted the state law and asked for the parts from my car, and not another car; he then went and "looked" for those parts and "found them". I have had a local mechanic look at the belt that was replaced and it is virtually in perfect shape. I will have the other parts reviewed later to further analyze.

I will never, ever do business with this Bellevue MB dealership. They are dishonest, and do little to hide their approach to gouging customers. I will never buy, lease, or have any repairs in this dealership. I suggest that others do the same; the technician "offered me" a 10% discount for the trouble; not good enough.
