I was ill, frightened, and alone---in the middle of the night, it was decided I had to be transported from the hospital in Newport, to Corvallis. I had never been in an ambulance before and was scared out of my wits. I had a team of a a lady and a man: the lady was the 'Pilot', and the young man stayed in the back with me. He made sure I was strapped in securely and as comfortable as possible, and hooked up to the cardiac monitoring equipment. He gave me lots of information, which decreased my anxiety, and though he was strapped in for most of the trip, which took over an hour, sat near the head of the gurney and frequently moved to the bench seat next to me. Both individuals were top notch professionals, while being caring and kind at the same time. KUDOS!
