My 14 week pregnant partner was in a car crash, and the EMT's at the scene suggested that I take her to the ER and we request an ultrasound to check on our new and growing family members. When we got to the front desk at the ER, my partner, whom is understandably emotional, tells them about how she was hit (almost head on, mind you) and says that we really wanted to check on the baby and get an ultrasound to make sure that their fine. The guy at the front proceeds to tell us that "we don't get to show up to the hospital and make demands. We will receive the tests that they think are needed." Shortly there after the doctor shows up in our room and things take another step down. My partner begins telling the doctor of the crash and says I'm really worried about the baby, im cramping badly, before she can even finish the doctor cuts her off and says "okay, so i have a list of questions I need to run through. I just need you to answer." My partner responds, okay im just worried about the cramping with my baby. Again, the doctor cuts her off and says "i heard you the first time." Then this guy starts pushing on my partner to check for injury and pain. He gets to her belly and she says to him, please be careful I have a hernia, to which the doctor replies "Ha, I have one in the same spot, only its about 10 times bigger. You're fine." The ultrasound tech was amazing, kind and patient. Which is the only reason this is getting two stars. If you can handle the drive, I would highly recommend going to any other hospital for ER services then the one here. Don't get me wrong, there are awesome medical professionals in our town, the ER, however, does not include such a wide list. I am disappointed, angry, and overall insulted. If you enjoy being treated like a child, talked down too like a druggie, horrible bed side manner, and a facility with more misdiagnosis than you can shake a stick at; visit our local ER. This message has been brought to you by small town citizens tired of being treated like lesser human beings. Thanks for y'alls time. -CJ
