My trusted Paragard IUD I had put in 6 years ago failed. It had moved from its proper place high in my Uterus to sliding lower into my cervix. I had no way of knowing this, and low and behold I got pregnant for the first time ever at age 30. It was a tough decision to make but the timing in my life was just not right. After googling many clinics I decided based on the reviews this was the most affordable and professional location.
They seem to only do procedures Fri, Sat, and every other Tues. I read many many reviews about bad waiting times so I even considered paying $250 extra, on top of the $535 procedure to expedite the process. However at the last minute I decided to tough it out with a good book.
I requested the earliest apt available, it was explained to me that your wait time starts as soon as you're done filling out the forms you're handed when you arrive. I filled out the forms, and it started the process.
Forms, then ultrasound, then lab work, then payment, then health education/birth control counseling. Each one of those steps you go from waiting room to back room to rotate through. Then - you're ready for pre-procedure and procedure. My whole experience lasted 3 hours! I could have been lucky that day but I got there about 9 (traffic made me a little late) and was out by 12. The security guard outside was very helpful and cheery, the nurses were great but most of all the doctor put me at ease - he gave me the confidence that he knew what he was doing.
I chose to stay awake for the procedure - it wasn't horrible, but there was some intense cramping from the numbing of the area.
I don't know what the other clinics are like - but I do know my experience here worked for me and I never felt judged. Luckily here in Georgia we have the right to choose what's best for ourselves! There were 1 or 2 protesters in the very front which was a little alarming but after watching an abortion documentary - compared to the midwest we have it pretty good in Atlanta.
