We didn't try any of the main dishes because we were still slightly full from lunch so we each got soup and we shared the appetizer trio. My husband's bowl of beer cheese soup won for best item. It was delicious and creamy and I could taste the lager (even though I don't drink and would normally avoid any taste of alcohol). It was THAT good! And it was served with 2 pieces of a very tender soda bread. (I'm used to being served pieces of cardboard that is supposed to serve as soda bread, not the case.)
I had the French onion soup. It was good but not really any different than a good F.O. soup served at other restaurants.
Our trio was made up of Dragon's Eggs (pimento cheese balls battered and deep fried), Bumbershoots (hand breaded mushrooms deep fried), and Loaded Cheese fries (string fries covered in hoop cheese, Green Goddess ranch dressing and bacon). All of these were equally good and I'm not sure I could pick one over the other. I listened to fellow patrons around me rave about their meals and I'm sorry I'm only here for 1 night (to see the eclipse tomorrow.)
So if you're in Anderson, I highly recommend you stop in for a Guinness and a bite to eat.
