My husband & I stayed at the Audubon Inn for two nights in July, 2012, for a friend's wedding. We love to stay at unique, local establishments instead of the same boring beige chain hotels. In this case, we wish we'd found one of those.

From the moment you walk in the lobby, the carpeting is old, worn, & bunched up in places. We stayed in the Bluebird Suite -- which was two tiny rooms, not the spacious suite we expected. Again, the carpeting was worn, the furniture shabby -- the windows had several large cracks in them!! The t.v. was a small tube set (from the 1980's??) that could barely be seen from the bed. There was absolutely NO comfortable furniture in the room from which to watch the tiny television. The one almost-saving grace was the large jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. I say 'almost' because this tub doubled as the shower -- so was difficult to get into, and was extremely slippery to stand in while showering. The 'suite' was also in need of a good cleaning -- we couldn't decide if the bathroom was old, or if it was filthy.

To add to our disappointment, we ate dinner in the Beaumont Restaurant. My husband had a salad, which he really enjoyed. I had the ribs -- which were incredibly tough & covered in a bottled sauce. (I had asked the waitress if she recommended the ribs, and she actually said she "couldn't say", since she'd never tried them.) Some definite training issues there.

Overall, this is a hotel to avoid -- at least until it has a good makeover. Perhaps someone should call Gordon Ramsey & "Hotel Hell".
