My daughter was ER twoce within this past week. The first time she got admitted for observation and the pediatric floor was amazing. The nurses,doctors ect were amazing so was the ER staff. The second time happened last night 11/11/18 and the staff was good. The ER doctor and the surgical team were great,thankfully she didn't need to stay or any type of surgery. But when asked if she could give a urine culture I agreed. Now the wipe provided for the urine culture must have irritated my daughter or she may be allergic to it. She didn't complain of any discomfort initially and we got discharged. Upon return home about an hour later she said she was itchy where I used the wipe for the urine culture. So I put some diaper rash cream and and let it be for about 1-2hr. She complained of being itchy and burning now so I give her a bath and called the ER. Now I explained everything to the nurse practitioner who's in the pediatrics ER side and she tells me to do all the things I had already done. Once I tell her I did everything she says "well it hard to say I mean she's a child so just give her motrin." I get it that motrin is an anti inflammatory so if there is swollen it will help but not the itchiness or burning. She said "well if the motrin doesnt help bring her back and we will check it out." Why would I bring her back after I just explained to you all her symptoms and she asked in detail how the rash looks. Clearly you know she had a reaction to the wipe used for the urine culture. Whoever the nurse practitioner was,she needs to get retrained and just listen when a patient is explaining their concerns and symptoms. I go to thank her for her time and she HANGS UP ON ME!!! That's most disrespectful thing you can do to anyone and I felt like I was being an inconvenience to her!!! Thankfully my daughters pediatrician answered my call and he was more help then she was!! Otherwise I would have given the 5 stars but this nurse practitioner ruined it!!!
