I wish I could leave zero stars as one is far too good of a review for this banking establishment. From the start, this bank left a lot to be desired. Due to us building a custom home and the builder had a working relationship with them, we took their suggestion to use them to finance. The first of many red flags was that we were unable to make our payments online. That is unless we had a checking or savings account with them. Neither would benefit us as we are located in the southeast and they have no branches near us. The savings account offered no real interest compared to others, and the checking account would actually cost us money on a monthly basis. Information that we should of known upfront. So, our checks were mailed off every month with a stamp. With us making every payment on our construction loan we knew it was soon turning to permanent. With the lack of customer service, no online pay, and overall frustration with them, coupled with dropping mortgage rates we decided to refinance with another lender. During the refi, the loan should of went permanent and the interest only payment would change to interest plus principle and escrow. Those coupons never came, it was still the interest only that was due according to our monthly statement. Feeling something was wrongs I called Dollar Bank to inquire. After getting bounced between departments and helpless representatives, I was finally told that the refi was almost complete, to make the interest payment and call if anything changed. I also should of received a packet showing the loan changing to perm, but informed them I didn t and to resend it. I made another payment of interest only waiting for the packet which again never came. Then I received statement for $0.00 15 days later, showing it was paid. To my surprise, Dollar Bank reported to my credit I had 2 missed payments. When I was alerted, I called to inquire. I had all my documentation, all my statements, etc. The helpless rep and supervisor I spoke with both only had 4 or 5 sentences that were basically on repeat stating I should have known to make more payments . Yes, it did seem odd which is why I called to confirm what was needed. All I did was what they advised me to and somehow I am penalized for It. I made the effort several times to see if there was a mistake. I am not a banker and not familiar of refi process behind closed doors. You would think a customer calling asking if they should pay more then what the coupon statement that was sent to the house would raise an eyebrow. Nope, not one apparently. Then I call again since this has escalated beyond my imagination you would think they would help me with THEIR mistake. No, they did not. I now am paying for it in a late fee and major dent to my perfect credit score that had no late or missed payments in the last 20 years. 20 years!!!! Avoid this bank like you would Covid. There isn t anything they can offer that would entice me to be their customer or responsible for my money, ever. I personally doing what I can to warn anyone and everyone to stay away. They will be reported to the BBB, as I do have all my documentation and proof. It wasn t an empty threat on the phone to avoid a $50 late charge. A simple correction on their end, either during one of the multiple times I called and brought it to their attention, or my last call to try and fix it after the fact. The worst company I ve ever dealt with. Save yourself the trouble, do business elsewhere. Anywhere else.
