I have been pleasantly surprised by the highly experienced doctors and overall level of competence and care provided at the Seattle VA hospital. Having barely survived a several month stay at an east-coast VA hospital circa 1970, (including being physically assaulted by a disgruntled military doc!), I'd avoided anything VA-related for 40 years. Frankly, I'd experienced better care at a third-world medical facility while working in S. America.
Ten years ago, a friend who knew of my earlier VA experience introduced me to her relative, a Seattle VA case manager. Still cautious, I initially only saw a PCP; now see several specialists as well. Several of 'my' specialists here also consult at the University of Washington. I like that the VA hospital is also a teaching facility, where experience and new techniques freely mingle.
If I could give them 6 stars I would!
