Took my mother on the wine train in May stopped at Krug and Raymond. Train company is well organized and boarding in easy, stairs up are a little tricky for the elderly. Once on board there was a menu with a few options, the food was good. I did think it was a bit unnecessary to charge for a glass of wine with lunch, it s a wine train for goodness sake! Then they move you to a desert carriage which is a nice idea except everyone had no idea where they were going!

One we reached St Helena you exit the train onto buses which are exceptionally new and clean and go off to the vineyards.

While we were given a tour of each (Raymond is exceptional) we were given a history of the vineyards and no information on the process of wine making and I wish we had gotten to experience that, but maybe I picked the wrong tour.

Overall a great experience. I was hoping for the elderly it would be a great option and while it wasn t bad I think for those that struggle with mobility maybe a private driver/private tours would have been better as we could have set our own pace.

I do recommend this train tour, it s a lovely idea.
