From December 2018 to January 2020 I went four times by bus from Solmar to Benidorm. The first two times in a hotel, Port Benidorm and Madeira Center, the third and fourth times in an apartment, Los Gemelos 1 and recently in Maryciel. If you are traveling alone, you can count on not too good rooms in hotels. In Port Benidorm it still went well, but at Madeira Center, a lot of noise from air conditioning (?) Conditions below me. Solmar cannot do anything about that, but they could have mentioned that there were deafening road works going on around the hotel!
The third time so opted for an apartment, Los Gemelos 1, right on the beach. When I arrived there I did something unforgivably stupid. When the bus stopped on the spot, I was unexpectedly kicked out by the local Solmar employee, "I have just said so, get off in the back!" That is something other than "welcome to Benidorm ..."
The location of Los Gemelos is fantastic. But everything is said with that. I was in apartment 21D. The large dark curtain hung half off the rails. The ceiling lighting in the bathroom did not work and the remaining lighting there was tinkered with different lights. The power went out when the kettle was used. According to the concierge / porter on duty, this was known and he could do nothing about it. Very annoying that the best man hardly spoke English. When asked if the power also went out when using a hob, washing machine, oven or microwave, he said with a radiant smile, "Yes, big problem." According to the travel guide, clean linen and towels are changed once a week. Forget it! For the Wifi I had 2 km. further to an office. For 40 euros I got 14 days of WiFi!
The last trip I spent four weeks in Maryciel. A relief! A beautiful, not too large apartment (12B), a cozy lounge bar on the roof, what more could a man want! A few days before leaving home I tried to record my next trip. Of course back to Maryciel. It didn't work on my iPad, so off to Solmar's office. It turned out that it wasn't me, but the updated Solmar website was not working properly. The Solmar employee on duty would try again later and it would all be fine. In the meantime, I had arranged with one of Maryciel's employees that they would keep apartment 12B free for me from 18 April to 9 May. Once home, it appeared that the Solmar employee in Benidorm had not arranged anything, and even worse, after several attempts by Solmar Maarheeze, it turned out to be impossible to book Maryciel on the aforementioned date ... There were other apartments where I could go. But they can get into the tree from me.
