Chris Botulinski Review of Embassy Suites
I like the Embassy Suites group. I know what I'm ...
I like the Embassy Suites group. I know what I'm getting for the price and it has always worked great for me travelling solo on business or with my family. The complimentary breakfast options are good and the evening Manager's Reception is hard to beat. The location of Overland Park property is in a good spot as there are several options for food and shopping nearby. The rooms were the size of what I expected but they are quite dark unless you open the curtains towards the hallway/open atrium...but that means everyone walking by has a peek (or stare at times). I think we hit a busy weekend as it was extremely busy for breakfast; it was hard to find an open table and the line for made-to-order omelets was too long for me to wait in for the four of us. The other options for a warm or cold breakfast was just fine but I do enjoy the customized omelets. The bed was on the firm side, which never works well with me or my wife...it didn't suck but just more firm that we like so a bit sore each morning. I do have to say the pillows were awful. There were at least 5 or 6 of them but all pancakes. The kids were on the sofa bed in the main room and had problems sleeping, not because of the bed comfort but due to the noise coming from people running up and down the hallway and the overall noise of people down in the bar area of the open atrium...that lasted until past midnight so they were a bit grumpy the next day. The second night was a bit better on the noise but probably had more to do with them being extra tired from the activities we undertook that day. The price was excellent compared to what I would normally expect from an Embassy Suites, which is probably why it was so packed. I was a bit perturbed about having to pay for parking...I have been to several Embassy Suites property around the country and very few of them have pay parking. If I pay for parking, I want it to be behind a gate with security, not a sign that tells you to remove your valuables and you get charged for it.
