Review of Guitar Center | Fort Collins

I did not visit the store so I can't speak on that but I did purchase a guitar from the used inventory they had at this location. The guitar I bought was considered EXCELLENT CONDITION on the website and the picture looked that way but of course it was a picture from a distance with no close up shots. So I went ahead and ordered the guitar and paid to have it NEXT Day Air shipped. I ordered Wednesday night so it shipped Thursday everything is going as planned. I went on UPS tracking system and it shows it will be at the GC closet to my house by 10:30am. I call at 1pm asking it arrived they said no call back after 4:30 to see if it gets dropped off. Called back at 5:39 giving extra time and it never arrived. I then check tracking number and it now says it won't be here until Monday 3 days after it was supposed to be. Well Saturday comes and I get an email saying it was at my GC so I drive 30min to go pick it up. I had them open it so I can take a look and test it out. This thing was in no way EXCELLENT condition. It was at best FAIR. The Floyd rose was all discolored and extremely dirty with grim, the tone and volume knobs were pitted, dirty and starting to corrode, the screws for the pickups and switch were already corroded and not black any longer, there were cracks in the binding at every fret, a lot of buckle rash all over the back, and the point and the headstock was scraped and missing the paint like it was scraped up against a wall or something. So I went ahead and returned it right then and there. If you ever order a used item from this store do not take their word on its condition call them and ask for extra pictures and ask about everything. Luckily I found the next model up at another store a little over an hour away from me and it was considered great condition so I drove there and picked it up for less then what the first guitar was priced at and it was in damn near mint condition. It had all the plastic still on it. Looks like someone bought it never played it and then sold back to GC. So at least I got something better then what I was getting for less money and it truly was in Excellent condition. To end my rant and make a long story short, get as much info on the used guitar before purchasing from another guitar center and having it shipped. And also to this Guitar Center you really need to retrain your staff to properly know how to inspect a guitar and grade it's condition. The only good thing is that I was able to get my shipping refunded because they did not ship on time and they guarantee it will arrive on time or they will refund shipping. Usually they do not refund shipping if you return a used item only the cost plus tax but at least I was able to get my shipping back especially since I payed extra for next air shipping. I put pictures up as well so you can see what they are considering excellent condition.
