They claim they are following guidelines set by the CPSO but they don't (CPSO guidelines suggest $30/20 pages and .25 for additional, without added delivery/retrieval cost. They claim they charge $35/ first 20 pages plus .35 for each additional page and provide you with a total cost, including an added $30 delivery fee no matter your delivery choice (electronic, ma) but they aren't even able to tell me how many pages my file even is. How can you give me cost when you cant give me file size? Just estimated number....is cost also estimated? Also they claimed they informed me that cost would increase if I didnt purchase, which I was not aware. All I was made aware of by letter was that my doctor retired and they now own my records. Now they tell me, they also told me if I don't pay they will most likely destroy my records since they've had them for almost 2years, what? Does the retiring doctor know you will destroy the records that soon? It's been almost 2 years and I. Still on waitlist to find a new doctor so definitely not reasonable timeframes. This shouldn't be legal, my medical records are being treated like some debt I owe that's now owned by a collection company!!! Doctors, please provide your patients with option to get their files directly from you and know that this company is NOT treating your patients with care I'm assuming they are selling you. Yes, they are prompt in answering your call but without forking over more than the recommendaded amount your records are discarded. Not fair to patients rights.
