If an otherwise well-stocked, decently-managed library can't open for months on end, denying neighborhood readers access to the collection, how can that same branch enlist as a polling-place, serving among 36 other Free Library branches?
Are voters healthier than patrons absorbed in the printed page?

Right here in this now sad city John Adams insisted America's new aristocracy were those driven to educate themselves; the very populace found in even the most modest, underfunded library.
But none of us can break deliberately chained doors. Books are too sacred to suffer such lawlessness.
