Minneapolis needs a good center for Modern Art. They don't do quite as well reflecting the tremendous local talent with international roots here, and often step on a metaphorical rake with few exhibits in recent years that have fundamentally challenged our ideas of what Modern Art can be. Recent exhibits have felt more like a giant put-on daring the audience to call them out. But the nearby sculpture garden is a classic stop for first-time visitors to the Twin Cities thanks to the giant cherry.
