I instructed Mike Clements on behalf of a mutual client to deal with a compulsory purchase of a flat. It was a difficult case as the flat was in a Wimpey block which was due to be demolished. It was the only owner occupied flat in the block the entirety of which was not well looked after. Obviously it was not worth much in comparison with other owner occupied flats locally. But our client had family reasons for staying locally. The only alternative decent flat we could find had a short lease (others couldn't get a mortgage for it) so we negotiated with the landlord to extend the lease. Mike had to deal with the sale to the Housing Association, the purchase of the short lease and the long one ie 3 transactions. Its been a lot of worry for my client. Mike dealt with it all admirably.
